National Dog Month

National Dog Month

For National Dog Month, we put the spotlight on dogs. Dogs leave such a positive impact on our lives that they deserve a whole month of celebration! Not only do they make us happy, but they also play a big part in helping us lead healthy and fulfilling lives. For National Dog Month, we thought about listing 5 ways that our furry friends benefit our lives.

An Adventure Buddy

Having a dog is having an adventure buddy up for any road trip at any time. Whenever and wherever you are, your dog will be ready to tag along. Whether you go for a short trip to a local area, or a long trip outside the state, your dog will be ready to accompany you. Check out these fun places to road trip with your dog in and around Florida. Always do your research before making any arrangements to see if sites are dog-friendly to visitors.

Improved Health

Our dogs get us off the couch for their daily walks and their everyday excitement. In addition to keeping us walking regularly and aware of proper nutrition, dogs are known to smell out certain illnesses and health problems. The canine nose is impeccable and can help you sniff out ingredients you may be allergic to, or it can help you spot more severe health issues like cancer. Of course, these illnesses can take a specially trained dog to point out; however, your average mutt still has significant benefits to your health. Dogs are a natural stress reliever. They decrease your stress hormones and help with your overall cardiovascular health, lowering the chances of heart disease.

Unconditional Love and Companionship

The loving bond you have with your dog is the most fulfilling relationship you can have. You are your dog’s world, and they see you as the center of it. Human love always carries conditions, but a dog’s love is unconditional and true. As long as you treat your dog with all the care and love in the world, they will return that love right back for a loyal companion until the end.

Social Butterfly

Dogs, for the most part, are very social creatures. They love having company and getting involved in anything they can see. Some love to observe, while some like to get into the drama of it all. Having a dog will most likely make you much more social, whether you like it or not. Dogs are great conversation starters, and sometimes they may even land you in conversations you would prefer to not be in. In any case, dogs show us that coming out of our shells isn’t all that bad as it’s thought to be. For those looking for love, dogs can also make you appear more attractive to potential partners, so you’re potentially one social interaction away from a soulmate.

Live in the Moment and Enjoy Every Second

Perhaps the most important lesson dogs teach us is to live in the moment and enjoy every second. Life’s too short not to have an extra treat or to throw the ball one more time. If you feel like going on a walk in the early morning or the late evening, you should just do it since every moment you spend enjoying yourself with your dog is a moment that will make lasting memories. Unfortunately, our four-legged friends don’t live as long as they deserve, but they sure make every day and second count! Be like them and enjoy every moment!

Dogs deserve more than a month of celebrating how great they are. Even though National Dog Month is only a month, we should make each day count and show our pups how much we appreciate them. Dogs bring so many positives to our lives that we can only thank them in return by providing them with all the love, care and attention they deserve. The love they provide is priceless so give your dog an extra cuddle for National Dog Month. Show your dog you love them by booking your dog for a walk with us! Let us impress you (and your dog) with our dog walking services and show you why we are Fort Lauderdale’s most trusted dog walkers since 2006.
